The HandiHaler is an inhalation device that has been specially designed for use with SPIRIVA capsules. It must not be used to take any other medication. To get started, remove the HandiHaler from the pouch so you can become familiar with its components.
- dust cap
- mouthpiece
- mouthpiece ridge
- base
- green piercing button
- center chamber
- air intake vents
Be sure to keep your HandiHaler in a clean, dry place. You will get a new HandiHaler each time you refill your prescription of SPIRIVA.
SPIRIVA capsules come packaged in a sealed blister card. Each blister can be separated from the blister card by tearing along the perforation.

SPIRIVA capsules contain only a small amount of powder, which makes them appear almost empty. After taking SPIRIVA you may notice a small dusting of this powder is left in the capsule. This is normal.
Care must be taken not to allow the powder to enter into the eyes. If symptoms of eye pain, eye discomfort, blurred vision, visual halos, or colored images in association with red eyes occur, consult a physician immediately.
SPIRIVA CAPSULES ARE FOR ORAL INHALATION ONLY AND ARE TO BE USED ONLY WITH THE HANDIHALER INHALATION DEVICE. DO NOT SWALLOW SPIRIVA CAPSULES.
SPIRIVA capsules should not be removed from the package until immediately before use, or else their effectiveness may be reduced.
Store SPIRIVA capsules in the sealed blisters at room temperature (59°-86°F), out of sunlight, and away from extreme temperature or moisture.
