Helping someone to heal is an act of love. If your husband, wife, mom, dad, or other loved one is having trouble breathing and you suspect they may have chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), you want to do everything you can to help.
The earlier your loved one is diagnosed with COPD, the sooner you can help them manage it.
The goal, of course, is to help them breathe better.
If your loved one doesn't want to go to the doctor, ask him or her to do it for you.
If your loved one's primary care physician suspects COPD, he or she may recommend a respiratory specialist like a pulmonologist.
